About
My name is Carlene Hempel, and I teach at Northeastern University’s School of Journalism. Find my profile here. I have asked my students to record, on their “personal blogs” their impressions of what it’s like to live, and work, on assignment as international reporters in the Middle East. While our time abroad is only five weeks, it will undoubtedly be instructive and transformational. And so here, on my pages, I will try my best to capture what it is like to witness what they are learning, and what it is like for me as well. Please, feel free to get in touch with me if you have questions, or concerns, or story suggestions. I can be reached at c.hempel@neu.edu.
